Job Overview

The Master Pipeline Specialist is a key figure in the success of our organization. They excel at exchanging ideas and information related to pipeline design, working effectively within established procedures and practices.

This role may involve leading teams and coordinating work, proposing improvements to processes and methods within the pipeline design discipline.

The Master Pipeline Specialist will be involved in all projects assigned to them, delivering deliverables as required, in consultation with Design and Engineering leads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer process facilities within specified timelines, adhering to maintenance, safety, and quality standards, considering constructability, economics, and operation during pre-FEED, FEED, or detailed design phases.
  • Set priorities, organize work and time to meet objectives, forecast and plan resource requirements as Lead Designer.
  • Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free models in coordination with other disciplines' requirements.
  • Ensure design deliverables are completed and issued per project specifications, McDermott, and project level 2 & 3 procedures, and within agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Apply knowledge and/or skills to perform complex work.
  • As Lead Designer/Design Coordinator:
  • Lead the design team to complete tasks within planned schedules and budgets, in accordance with standards, McDermott, and project-specific procedures.
  • Act as project-based discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with Project Team, Client, vendor/supplier, and/or subcontractor counterparts.
  • Ensure inter-discipline aspects of design and deliverables are addressed.
  • Support Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress and productivity.
  • Coordinate activities within own discipline and interface with other disciplines.
  • Ensure effective communications among other disciplines and effective management of change.
  • Coordinate 3D model reviews and ensure review comments are closed.
Requirements
  • Perform complex work applying knowledge and/or skills.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to address inter-discipline aspects.
  • Coordinate large design teams as Designers Coordinator.
  • Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications in the change management system.
  • Assist Lead Piping Engineer in raising technical queries, preparing piping estimate and job scope changes.
  • Attend project kickoff meetings, review meetings, vendor meetings as lead Piping Designer.
  • Monitor and coordinate the design team remotely, if required, and can lead a project in a multi-office project execution environment (MOPEX).
  • Able to identify issues as soon as they arise and follow up with any required corrective action.
  • Support and supervision of less-experienced members within the design team.
