About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned and passionate professional to join our team as a Rail Safety Program Manager. This role combines in-depth knowledge of rail safeworking rules and procedures, ability to conduct audits, assisting with theoretical and practical training of safeworking to trainees with leadership and organisational skills required to deliver business-related projects on time, and with a strong safety-first culture.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a results-driven individual who can drive compliance with Rail Safety National Law (RSNL), organisational standards, and applicable Rules, procedures and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support rail safety programs, initiatives, and projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to Protection Officer staff that is aligned with rail safeworking rules, procedures, and business standards and expectations.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, identifying trends and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Develop project plans, manage stakeholders, track milestones, and deliver results.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to embed a proactive safety culture.
  • Act as a change leader, promoting innovation in safety practices and project execution.
About You
  • You will have proven experience in rail safety, safeworking, operations, or compliance within the rail industry.
  • A strong track record in project management is essential, ideally with formal qualifications.
  • You will have excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and engage at all levels of the organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of rail safety regulations and risk management is crucial.
  • You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and outcomes-focused, able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.
