We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Project Specialist to join our team, based in Melbourne. As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for guiding client projects from start to finish, providing robust technical and regulatory advice to help clients navigate requirements and develop effective strategies to minimize environmental impacts.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Project Management: Manage project delivery, ensuring high standards of quality and client satisfaction;
- Technical expertise: Provide comprehensive understanding of current environmental legislation and policy applicable in Victoria, as well as up-to-date ecological expertise to support assessments and provide advice and recommendations to clients;
- Client Relationship Management: Build and manage effective client relationships, including the provision of advice and recommendations to meet their needs and foster long-term working relationships;
- Supporting and leading people: Manage and mentor a small group of field-based ecologists, developing their professional skills and capabilities in undertaking surveys and associated reporting;
The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduate qualifications (or higher) in ecology;
- Comprehensive experience in the design and implementation of ecological field assessments and the preparation and quality control of scientific reports;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Proactive, collaborative approach to work, including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and projects;
- High-quality reporting and reviewing skills;
- Prior experience in team leadership;
- An understanding of the regulatory requirements relevant to ecology at local, state and federal level.
