About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team in a vibrant community. The Manager of Administration and Communication will play a crucial part in managing the Council's brand, media relations, planning, engagement, and administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and support a high-performance team that is responsive to the changing environment in which the Council operates.
  • Monitor and refresh the Council's core brand and market positioning, maintaining our style guide, communications guidelines, and other relevant policies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key local and national media, supporting senior stakeholders in media engagement and interviews.
  • Drive the refresh of Council's digital platforms for staff and community engagement and feedback.
  • Baseline and improve the annual community survey process and lead the team in integrated planning and performance management.
Requirements

  • Proven leadership skills and staff management experience with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualification in business management, media, communications, marketing, social science or a related field.
  • Strong strategic, operational, and project management skills with an ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High level communication skills.
  • Strong public consultation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.

  • A 5 year senior officer contract based in the Torres Strait.
