Clinical Coder

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Coder to provide high-quality clinical coding services to our hospitals. The successful candidate will have experience in translating inpatient episodes of care into codes using ICD-10-AM and ACHI, and will be able to meet Activity Based Funding (ABF) targets and NSW Health Service reporting timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding patient data, using their knowledge of medical terminology and classification systems. They will work independently and as part of a team to meet coding deadlines and quality standards. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Successful completion of recognised courses in clinical coding (ICD-10-AM) and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated experience and competence in clinical classification using ICD-10-AM and high level proven knowledge of Australian Coding Standards.
- Practical knowledge and experience in current disease classification in a tertiary teaching hospital.
- Demonstrated understanding of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) as per Activity Based Funding (ABF) principles and application within the health system.
- Experience using 3M Codefinder and Patient Administration Systems/eMR.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work both in an unsupervised environment and within a team with excellent interpersonal skills.
