Student Counsellor Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our student support services, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to students who are facing various challenges in their academic journey.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Student Guidance: Provide individualised counselling sessions to students who are struggling with academic or personal issues.
  • Referral Services: Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies that provide resources and support to students.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff regarding student progress, concerns, and needs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions, including counselling sessions, referrals, and follow-up actions.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in providing counselling services to students.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with diverse groups, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
