Academic Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join our team as an Academic in Education.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for education and a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching, research, and community engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and delivering subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as contributing to the development of future educators through high-quality research training.

The position involves preparing and delivering diverse teaching modalities, developing and reviewing curricula, and coordinating subject administration including supervision of sessional staff. Additionally, the successful candidate will assess student progress through timely feedback, marking, moderation, supporting practical application of theory, and monitoring teaching quality for continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will also conduct and disseminate scholarship in the field of Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport, securing research funding, supervising graduate research students, and engaging in national and international academic forums. They will provide leadership through contributing to professional development, participating in faculty committees, supporting colleagues, and engaging with relevant professional and community organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and subject coordination: Coordinate and deliver subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students.
  • Research and scholarship: Conduct and disseminate research in the field of Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport, securing research funding and supervising graduate research students.
  • Leadership and collaboration: Provide leadership through contributing to professional development, participating in faculty committees, supporting colleagues, and engaging with relevant professional and community organisations.
Requirements
  • PhD or research doctorate relevant to the Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport specialist area with a focus on education and teaching.
  • Experience in course or subject development, subject coordination, and providing specialised support to students on placement.
  • Maintaining a developing research profile with a strong record of publications in leading academic outlets and the ability to contribute to research funding and supervision of graduate research students.
  • Digital literacy and familiarity with contemporary digital pedagogies to support innovative research, learning, and teaching practices.
