We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Fire Communications Officer - Emergency Response. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland.
Key Responsibilities- Accept incoming emergency incident calls and enquiries, and collect relevant information.
- Assess risks associated with a situation and determine the appropriate response and/or resources to be dispatched.
- Dispatch and coordinate appropriate resources to calls for assistance, and notify other organisations as required.
- Maintain and update incident information in our computer-aided dispatch system, and monitor progress until completion.
- Complete post-incident administration, including provision of information and reports to stations and other agencies.
- Monitor alarm signals and respond in accordance with our Communications Doctrine and Directives.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to new staff, and contribute to the improvement of operational and administrative systems and procedures.
- Identify systems and technical faults, and liaise with our Specialist Operational Services Unit to report and resolve issues.
- Currently hold a valid Blue Card, with attached evidence to support.
- Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or Australian Resident Status.
- Hold or be able to obtain a Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations).
- Ability to successfully complete our Communications Training and Professional Development Program (CTPDP) at the prescribed level.
- Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy.
- Hold or be able to obtain Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates.
