Facilities Maintenance Specialist

This critical role involves ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds to provide a safe and attractive environment for students, staff, and the public.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for arranging furniture and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and special events, as well as securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage and potential liability.

Additionally, this role requires attending in-service training sessions for new procedures and performing various custodial functions to maintain a safe and attractive environment.

Key responsibilities include reporting incidents of vandalism, damages, and/or issues needing action, as well as performing other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit.

  • Arranges furniture and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and special events.
  • Secures facilities and grounds to minimize property damage and potential liability.
  • Attends in-service training sessions for new procedures.
  • Cleans assigned school facilities, including classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, desks, lunchroom, locker rooms, etc.
  • Performs various custodial functions as required to maintain a safe and attractive environment.
  • Reports incidents of vandalism, damages, and/or issues needing action.
Required Skills and Qualifications

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as experience in custodial work. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • SKILLS: Required to perform single tasks with occasional upgrades to meet changing job conditions.
  • KNOWLEDGE: Required to perform basic math, understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly.
  • ABILITY: Required to schedule activities, collate data, and use job-related equipment.
