Aboriginal Community Leader Role

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Community Leader to join our team as a Team Leader Nugel. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will play a key leadership position in working with Aboriginal children and families, Government and sector partners to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children involved with Child Protection.
About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about championing the rights of Aboriginal children and families. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager Nugel, the Team Leader Nugel will lead a team of staff in implementing the unique practice approach based on Cultural Therapeutic Ways, which prioritizes culture and integrates theories of self-determination and trauma.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values that underpin VACCA's vision and purpose. They will also have a high level of awareness of the key issues impacting Aboriginal communities and be able to guide practice with Aboriginal children, families, and carers.
Key Responsibilities- Implement the Cultural Therapeutic Ways approach with staff and partner organizations
- Provide leadership and mentoring to staff
- Develop internal and state-wide policies, procedures, and protocols related to the Nugel program
- Build capacity in families to prevent child protection involvement
- Recognized Social Work degree or Diploma of Community Services Work
- Current COVID-19 vaccination and Working with Children's Check
- Victorian Driver Licence
- A competitive salary of $113,000 - $121,000 per annum
- 5 weeks annual leave and 17.5% loading
