Expert Dementia Support Professional

This is a fulfilling opportunity for an experienced professional to work in delivering dementia support programs, working collaboratively to improve lives and implement best practices.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts each individual, providing expert knowledge to equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes.
  • With opportunities for professional growth and a commitment to exceptional service, your expertise will empower others to support those living with dementia.
Responsibilities
  1. Provide dementia support services to families, caregivers, and clinical staff, equipping them to understand and manage dementia.
  2. Develop resources including behaviour support planning, synthesising information through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations that are relationship centred and informed by evidence based best practice.
  3. Write reports that are contextualised to individual situations and people, that effect change on the ground and improve quality of life for people living with dementia.
  4. Conduct assessments that help to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network, working in partnership with the broader team to build capability across the home and aged care sectors.
  5. Contribute to research, projects and programs, innovatively addressing the changing needs of the sector.
Requirements
  • Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
  • Experience in Australian residential aged care and or community aged care.
  • Ability to share knowledge in a way that supports change at all levels, negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.
  • High level of problem solving and decision-making skills, ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder management.
  • Empathy and patience, relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care or Mental Health is essential.
