Procurement and Contract Manager

This role oversees subcontracting activities to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and products. It involves the creation, negotiation, and execution of subcontracts in line with organisational policies, legal requirements, and project needs.

About the Role
  • The successful candidate will oversee post-award subcontract performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), timelines, and contractual obligations.
  • The position requires establishing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers/vendors.
  • The Procurement and Contract Manager will be responsible for advocating for change, providing clarity on expectations, and proactively addressing performance risks.
  • Risk assessments will be conducted on subcontractor performance.
  • Closely working with project managers, legal, finance, and other departments ensures the effective integration of subcontracting activities into overall project plans.
  • Negotiating terms, conditions, pricing, and delivery schedules is an essential part of this role.
  • Providing regular status updates to senior management on subcontract performance, risks, and issues is a critical aspect of this position.
  • Improving subcontracting processes to enhance efficiency and compliance is also expected.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in subcontract management or procurement, preferably within Defence.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing subcontracts and vendor relationships is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of subcontracting processes, contract law, and procurement regulations is essential.
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate when required.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance is mandatory.
