Job Opportunity

This is an exciting chance to join a team as a Marine Conservation Professional in Cairns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Authorised Officers with enforcement, surveillance, inspections and investigations in marine conservation and habitat protection under state and commonwealth statutes.
  • Deliver compliance and extension services to stakeholders, communities and the public to develop their knowledge and understanding of marine conservation and boating safety requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of State and Commonwealth marine conservation and maritime safety legislation.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, members of the public and external stakeholders by exercising sound judgement and providing informed advice.
  • Engage with a cross-section of the community on marine-related compliance issues through participation and delivery of education activities at public events.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of departmental equipment and materials to ensure they are kept in good operational condition.

You will work full-time and contribute to human resources and government administration.
