We are seeking a high-performing insurance specialist to join our market-leading Commercial Litigation team in Melbourne.

This role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to:

  • Work on major litigation and advisory matters for blue-chip corporates
  • Collaborate and contribute to a high-performing and impactful team
  • Join a top-tier ranked policyholder's insurance practice

The role involves managing client relationships, shaping the strategic direction of matters, working closely with counsel, drafting advices, preparing witness and expert evidence, and having carriage of final and interlocutory proceedings. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a highly driven and successful team being recognised as an Asia Pacific Band 1 ranked practice in Insurance (Policyholder) and Insurer: Non-contentious, and Band 2 ranked Legal500 insurance practice.

About This Opportunity

In this role, you will work closely with Partner Sophy Woodward and join a high-performing, supportive, and down-to-earth team. You will enjoy working with prominent corporate clients across various sectors. As part of our market-recognised policyholder's insurance practice within the Commercial Litigation team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our Melbourne team on a permanent basis.

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years' PQE within an insurance practice or within a broader commercial litigation practice but with an interest in insurance
  • Demonstrated experience in a range of litigious matters and management of insurance disputes
  • Strong academic achievements
  • Familiarity with Supreme/Federal Court litigation
  • The ability to project manage and drive matters through to completion
  • A passion for mentoring, supervising, and delegating work to more junior lawyers
  • A strong focus on delivering exceptional client service
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills required for building effective client relationships and contributing to a positive team environment
Estimated Salary: $200,000 - $280,000 per annum
