We are looking for an experienced insurance litigation lawyer to join our Melbourne team as a Senior Associate. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex matters, lead the team, and contribute to the firm's success.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will have 5-6 years of post-qualification experience in insurance litigation and be able to assist partners and other team members on a range of complex and large-scale matters. These include defence of directors' and officers' liability and professional indemnity insurance claims, defending claims involving large construction projects, product and public liability claims, multi-party litigation, and class actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Expertise: Assist partners and other team members on complex matters, including defence of directors' and officers' liability and professional indemnity insurance claims.
  • Team Leadership: Work with and delegate to junior lawyers, manage the team, and foster teamwork.
  • Client Management: Liaise directly with regional and global clients, build trusted adviser relationships, and participate in business development work.
  • Supervising Discovery: Manage e-discovery and electronic data collection in the context of large litigation, oversee large-scale document review, and guide juniors and processes.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate legal advice to clients and negotiate with opposing parties.

Candidate Profile:

  • Australian or dual qualified with 5-6 years of PQE in insurance litigation.
  • Experience working on litigation matters and defending claims in all courts and tribunals in Australia.
  • Commercial awareness, confidence in building client relationships, and a keen interest in professional development.
  • A desire to contribute and thrive in a high-performing team environment.

Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $140,000 - $180,000 AUD, depending on experience.
