We are seeking a talented litigation lawyer for our busy Insurance practice based in Melbourne. The Senior Associate will focus on Financial lines matters including professional indemnity coverage and defence work across all professions within the financial services, allied health, and construction sectors.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of relevant insurance litigation experience with a background in defending professional services claims brought against AFSL, financial advisors, accountants & insolvency practitioners. Experience acting in Federal Court, State Court, and AFCA disputes is preferred.

The role includes acting in regulatory investigations, complex coverage and indemnity disputes, and working on coverage instructions for a range of local insurers and London syndicates. You will have full responsibility for day-to-day management of multiple proceedings in the Federal Court, Supreme Court, and tribunal work.

  • Acting as coverage counsel for consumer class actions against Banks and Insurers

  • Defence of AFSL in claims arising from misappropriation of funds by authorised representative
  • Defence of consulting engineers in relation to design of natural drainage waterway
