Job Title: Occupational Therapist
Description
The role of an Occupational Therapist is to improve or maintain people's independent functioning in all aspects of living. Occupational Therapists may assist individuals who are limited by physical or psychological illness, neurological dysfunction, developmental delay or the ageing process.
This position involves working with clients to assess their functional and ergonomic capacity, limitations and potential. It also includes assessing clients' cognition and decision-making capacity with respect to Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
The successful candidate will provide Occupational Therapist input aimed at improving clients' functional independence and quality of life. This may involve recommending, trialing and assisting to obtain necessary assistive technology (aids and equipment).
Additionally, the Occupational Therapist will facilitate appropriate minor and major home modifications, which may involve referral and coordination with other agencies. They will also provide education to clients regarding energy conservation, joint protection, falls prevention, work simplification, stress management and relaxation.
About the Role
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to maximise client outcomes
- Attend case conferences as required to advise on client care, assessment results and progress
- Evaluate and review peer Occupational Therapist recommendations, and adjust as appropriate
- Contribute to care plans that address personal ADLs, including manual handling and other workplace health and safety concerns
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients' functional ability and develop treatment plans to improve or maintain their independence
- Provide education and training to clients and carers on various topics, including energy conservation and falls prevention
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal client outcomes
Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current registration with AHPRA
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Membership or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists, Queensland

Working Conditions
This is a part-time position, 4 days per week. Our office is located in Robina, and travel to clients' homes within this region will be expected.
