We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced CSSD Instrument Technician to join our dynamic perioperative team at John Fawkner Private Hospital.

As a key member of our Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of infection control and sterilization practices are maintained.

Your Role

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation of all work areas within the CSSD department, including decontamination, packing, sterilisation, and loan instruments. This will involve performing tasks such as testing machinery, managing resources, and prioritizing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to AS/NZ 4187 (2003) and infection control practices at all times
  • Perform duties in all work areas of the department, including decontamination, packing, sterilisation, and loan instruments
  • Test machinery, including washers, sterilisers, and ultra-sonic devices
  • Plan and manage resources to ensure efficient operations
  • Inform the CSSD Manager or Peri-Operative Services Manager of any deviations from normal practice

Essential Criteria:

  • At least 1 year of experience as a CSSD Technician
  • Certificate III in Sterilizing Services or working towards this qualification
  • Committed to maintaining currency in practical skills and knowledge
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Able to prioritize, plan, and take initiative to respond to changes

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience
