Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Financial Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will work with individuals and families experiencing or at risk of financial hardship.

  • Provide personalized support and guidance on financial planning, literacy, problem gambling amelioration, microfinance, and emergency relief assistance
  • Collaborate with participants to assess their needs and develop tailored plans to improve their financial wellbeing
  • Deliver engaging community education sessions on financial management and life skills

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough assessments to identify the financial needs of clients and provide relevant information and referrals
  2. Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance clients' financial stability, including budgeting and financial management advice
  3. Maintain regular communication with clients to monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling) or willingness to complete within 12 months
  • Registration with an affiliated professional body or ability to undertake the Problem Gambling Skills Set
  • Prior experience working in casework/advocacy/finance or banking
  • Empathy, non-judgmental attitude, solutions-focused approach, and cultural responsiveness
