Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the day-to-day operations of a modern manufacturing workshop. This role involves working closely with researchers, academics, students, and industry partners to facilitate high-precision fabrication, rapid prototyping, and custom solutions.

You will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating workshop activities, inductions, and equipment training, as well as liaising with stakeholders to scope and prioritise projects.

The ideal candidate will have a degree or trade qualification in Engineering, with at least four years subsequent relevant experience, or extensive experience and management expertise in technical fields.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and coordinating workshop activities, inductions, and equipment training.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to scope and prioritise projects.
  • Operating and programming CNC and multi-axis lathes, as well as manual equipment.
  • Reviewing and producing CAD technical drawings to support prototyping and research.
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS standards, SOPs, and safe workshop practices.
About You

We are looking for a leader who can balance multiple stakeholder priorities, generate a strong sense of team spirit, co-operation and collaboration within and across teams, and demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of CNC machining, including programming and operation, as well as knowledge and experience with laser cutting, water jet cutting, and technical understanding of 3D metal printing.
