About the Role

The University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join its Modern Manufacturing Workshop team. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to blend hands-on technical expertise with collaboration, contributing to cutting-edge research, commercialisation, and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Scheduling and coordinating workshop operations, inductions, and equipment training.
  • Liaising with researchers, academics, and partners to scope and prioritise projects.
  • Operating and programming CNC and multi-axis lathes, as well as manual equipment.
  • Reviewing and producing CAD technical drawings to support prototyping and research.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Leading and mentoring technical staff, while building collaborative relationships across the University and beyond.
Requirements
  • A degree or trade qualification with at least four years subsequent relevant experience in Engineering; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Specialist skills and experience in delivery of high-quality design and manufacturing across all disciplines in Engineering technical services in the higher education sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability including the ability to lead and inspire a team of technical staff to deliver exceptional performance and outcomes.
  • Ability to generate a strong sense of team spirit, cooperation and collaboration within and across teams.
