Job DescriptionAs a Database Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the uptime and reliability of our data components. This includes:
- Operating and automating properly configured clusters using Chef.
- Developing infrastructure services to support the engineering team's pursuit of a full DevOps model.
- Collaborating with Engineering and Customer Support to troubleshoot time-sensitive production issues.
You will work closely with local and remote teams to ensure seamless communication and effective decision-making.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong configuration management skills using Chef.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and bash.
- Experience with large-scale datastores using technologies like Cassandra, Elastic Search, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL.
- Knowledge of large-scale, business-critical Linux environments.
- Experience operating within cloud environments, preferably Amazon Web Services, GCP, and OCI.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A combination of confidence and independence with the prudence to know when to ask for help from the rest of the team.
- A Bachelor's degree in an applicable field, such as CS, CIS, or Engineering.
