The Art Gallery of New South Wales is seeking a skilled Paper Conservator to join their team. As a key member of the Conservation department, the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking specialized conservation programs for the collections and exhibitions.

About the Role:

  • Collaborate with the Conservation team and staff to assess and prepare artworks for acquisition, internal and external exhibitions, displays, and loans.
  • Maintain the integrity and quality of artworks through examination, documentation, and treatment.
  • Develop and implement conservation strategies in accordance with international standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Materials Conservation or related field.
  • Proven experience in Objects conservation, including examination, documentation, and treatment of works to a high standard.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current international standards for handling, packing, transport, and display of artworks.
  • Familiarity with Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials Code of Ethics and international counterparts.
