Cow Health Specialist

A challenging, full-time role as part of a dynamic team dedicated to the wellbeing and care of our dairy herd.

About the Position:

  • Participate in all aspects of cow health, including monitoring transition, fresh and milking cows, and diagnosis of common health conditions.
  • Assist with maternity, cow health, hoof care, reproduction, and dairy nutrition programs.
  • Contribute to herd reproduction initiatives, including AI, heat detection, and synchronization programs.
  • Support dairy nutrition strategies, encompassing feed delivery according to plan, silage pit management, recording feed data, and operating machinery as necessary.
  • Involve yourself in calf rearing, vaccinations & treatments, and other herd management tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to cow health.
  • Provide periodic relief in the milking parlor.

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in cow health, reproduction, and heifer raising is essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in cow management, especially from reputable large-scale dairy farms.
  • Proficiency in cow management software, such as Dairy Comp 305 or electronic monitoring systems like CowManager.
