Job Title

Nurse Unit Manager is a leadership role responsible for the management of patient care and staff within a healthcare setting.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
About the Role

The Nurse Unit Manager will play a key role in ensuring the effective operation of the ward and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational leadership and management of the Medical and Rehabilitation Ward.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care while managing human, financial, and material resources.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement and accreditation processes, adhering to National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards (NSQHS) and Workplace Health and Safety protocols.
  • Support and mentor less experienced nursing staff, promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Ensure a safe and effective work environment through active management of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) concerns.
Selection Criteria
  • Current Registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience at NUM level or equivalent
  • Experience in the Acute setting
  • Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to developing in a management role
  • A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer focused care
  • High degree of computer literacy including MS Office and various databases
  • Ability to work cohesively within a team environment
  • Proven time management and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management
  • Demonstrated HR management experience
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Strong understanding of patient flow
Our Facility

With 60 inpatients Surgical, Medical and Rehabilitation beds, a rehabilitation gym and 3 operating theatres located on the idyllic Redcliffe Peninsula, our facility averages 760 admissions per month.

Specialties include orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and internal medicine, as well as the delivery of leading rehabilitation services and programs on the Brisbane Northside.
