About the Opportunity

The NSW Government's Drug Health Services team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant or Clinical Midwife Consultant to join our team within the Substance Use in Parenting and Pregnancy Service (SUPPS).

The SUPPS program provides comprehensive support and treatment options for pregnant women with problematic substance use, including intake assessment and treatment services, case management, and extended support for up to 2 years.

We are looking for a CNC or CMC who is passionate about supporting mothers with substance use issues in pregnancy, their babies, and their families within a trauma-informed framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert clinical leadership and facilitating evidence-based practice
  • Developing and implementing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers and consumer groups to deliver high-quality care
  • Providing services that facilitate effective management of care in the specialty field

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Midwife/Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • At least 5 years full-time equivalent post-registration experience, with at least 3 years full-time experience in the specialty field
  • Approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field
  • Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe, compassionate, and quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team
