About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our team at Save the Children Australia. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing practice guidance and support to our Family Support Specialists, who work with families in the Intensive Family Engagement Service and the Intensive Restoration Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Practice Guidance and Support: Provide coaching and mentoring to Family Support Specialists to determine case direction and analyze complex cases and challenges.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, community members, and external agencies.
  • Practice Leadership: Lead practice to ensure we target interventions to the needs of children and families with a strengths-based, outcomes-focused approach.
  • Staff Support: Support the coordination of staff caseloads and program logistics.
  • Service Delivery: Monitor and evaluate service delivery and outcomes.
  • Risk Management: Uphold risk management and child safeguarding policies.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in a relevant field (e.g. social work, community services) strongly preferred, or significant equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Significant demonstrated experience in family support work and case management.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication skills and experience in report writing, exceptional time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others, demonstrated experience in using trauma-informed approaches, and demonstrated knowledge of the local child protection context.
  • License: A current driver's license.
