Job Summary:
The Tasmanian Government is seeking a highly skilled Legal Practitioner, Level 2 to join the Department of Police and Emergency Management. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for undertaking litigation on behalf of the Department and providing legal services and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake litigation on behalf of the Department of Police and Emergency Management
- Provide legal services and support to the Department, with a particular emphasis on matters relating to family violence
- Work closely with the Department's senior leadership team to develop and implement strategies to prevent, reduce, and respond to incidents of family violence in Tasmania
- Conduct research and analysis to inform policy and procedural changes
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and other relevant parties
Requirements:
- Admitted as a Barrister or a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act 2007
- More than 2 years relevant post-admission experience
- Strong understanding of family violence and its impact on individuals and communities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
