Job Summary:

The Tasmanian Government is seeking a highly skilled Legal Practitioner, Level 2 to join the Department of Police and Emergency Management. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for undertaking litigation on behalf of the Department and providing legal services and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake litigation on behalf of the Department of Police and Emergency Management
  • Provide legal services and support to the Department, with a particular emphasis on matters relating to family violence
  • Work closely with the Department's senior leadership team to develop and implement strategies to prevent, reduce, and respond to incidents of family violence in Tasmania
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy and procedural changes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and other relevant parties

Requirements:

  • Admitted as a Barrister or a practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania under the provisions of the Legal Profession Act 2007
  • More than 2 years relevant post-admission experience
  • Strong understanding of family violence and its impact on individuals and communities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
