About the Role

Strathfield Council is seeking a highly skilled Stormwater Maintenance Team Leader to join our Operations department on a permanent, full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the Council's stormwater network, ensuring the efficient and effective management of water resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Council's stormwater network, including the identification and resolution of issues related to drainage and water management.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to develop and implement strategies for improving stormwater management and reducing the risk of flooding.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to staff on stormwater management practices and procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the condition of stormwater infrastructure and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including contractors and other Council departments, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Year 12 higher school certificate or above or equivalent specialist skills.
  • Experience in concreting and general labouring, including concrete finishing, paving, road works, asphalting, and drainage works.
  • Ability to carry out labouring work and apply multi-skilling in the workplace.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Hold a valid HR driver's license.
  • Hold a certificate for General Induction for construction work in NSW.
  • Hold a Traffic Control ticket.
  • Demonstrated experience working with WHS requirements.
  • Experience in driving and operating road sweepers (desirable).
  • Experience in operating Backhoes, Skid Steers, and Rollers (desirable).
  • First Aid certificate (desirable).
