Job Title: Aboriginal Palliative Care Specialist
About the RoleThe Aboriginal Palliative Care Specialist supports end of life and palliative care services to ensure respectful and culturally appropriate care for Aboriginal people. This specialist collaborates with clinicians, community-based service providers, and patient families at the primary healthcare level.
- Acting as a conduit for Aboriginal patients with palliative care needs in both hospital and community settings.
- Leading the development of culturally safe environments for Aboriginal patients and their families within a multidisciplinary team.
This position requires a strong understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people in relation to grief and loss and Aboriginal social and emotional wellbeing. It demands capacity to lead and coordinate the development of culturally safe practices across the health district.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement culturally safe palliative care strategies.
- Collaborate with clinicians and community-based service providers.
- Support patient families and carers.
This role requires:
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and history.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
