We seek an exceptional candidate to join our team as a lecturer in experimental particle physics. This tenure track opportunity is a unique platform for advancing your career and making significant contributions to the field of particle physics.
You will collaborate closely with leading experts, lead the Melbourne node's contributions to the dark matter detection program, SABRE underground experiment, R&D for future direct detection experiments, and involvement in prestigious projects such as the ATLAS program at CERN.
This role offers a chance to conduct internationally competitive research, publish in high impact journals, participate in research seminars and conferences, contribute to teaching and scientific mentoring, and supervise junior research staff to facilitate the production of publications.
About the RoleAs a Lecturer, you will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, participating in research collaborations, publishing research outcomes in top-tier journals, contributing to teaching and learning, and supervising junior researchers.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct innovative research in collaboration with senior academic staff and publish research findings in top-tier journals.
- Participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research outcomes in your area of expertise as opportunities arise.
- Contribute to teaching, training, scientific mentoring, and supervision of students, as well as effectively supervising junior research staff to facilitate the production of publications.
- Participate in School meetings and contribute to planning activities or committee work to support capacity building in the School/discipline.
- Completion of a PhD in physics in either dark matter detection, high energy physics, or Astro particle physics.
- Demonstrated research excellence, including relevant publications, in an area relevant to the experimental program of the Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of instrumentation for particle physics.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with relevant professional and industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.
