Audit Technical Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Audit Technical Specialist to join our Group Risk team in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, or Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical professional to provide specialist support and advice to our engagement teams across Australia and New Zealand.
About the RoleThis newly created role has a focus on authoring and facilitating audit learning for our professionals. You will have exposure to a broad range of audit quality and risk programs that will contribute to developing your risk management expertise. Key responsibilities include:
- Authoring and facilitating face-to-face audit learning and webinars.
- Responding to consultations from practitioners in relation to the application of the audit methodology or general risk related matters across our Australian and New Zealand practices.
- Influencing, leading or participating in programs of work to improve audit quality, including developing tools and templates to assist auditors in performing their engagements.
You will also be responsible for maintaining engagement letter, auditor's report, and other templates. Additionally, you will manage the annual update of the Caseware audit methodology and documentation tool. Other key tasks include supporting the Group's readiness for new professional standards, including authoring policy changes and preparing communications to raise awareness of the changes. Finally, you will perform technical review of audit reports, including modifications, emphasis of matters, and key audit matters, as well as supporting monitoring programs.
About YouTo succeed in this role, you will have detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and/or New Zealand context. You must possess a technical bent and well-developed capability to research standards, interpret, and apply auditing and other professional standards and regulatory requirements in response to technical matters. A passion for sharing knowledge and educating others, including excellent facilitation skills, is essential. Strong communication skills, including the ability to facilitate and present internal and external training sessions, support, and partner effectively with Directors and staff, deal with stakeholders virtually or in person, building trust and confidence in the firm, are necessary. Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is required. The ability to see the big picture and understand the commercial aspects of discussion points is also important. You should be able to manage multiple stakeholders and instill confidence in the quality of advice.
RequirementsKey qualifications include:
- CA or CPA qualified.
- 7+ years of Audit experience.
- Experience in a national quality and risk team would be highly regarded.
Detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and/or New Zealand context, is essential. In terms of salary, we offer a competitive compensation package, estimated at around AU$120,000 - AU$150,000 per annum, depending on experience and location.
