About the Role

V/Line, a leading transportation provider in Victoria, Australia, is seeking an experienced Audit Expert to join its People, Risk, Safety, and Sustainability (PRSS) Group.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal controls across the organization. With a strong background in auditing and assurance, you will be responsible for conducting independent audits, evaluating risks, and providing recommendations for improvement.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and coordinating audits, developing audit plans, and identifying areas for improvement;
  • Leading and supporting audit teams, guiding them through the audit process, and providing coaching and support as needed;
  • Scheduling and managing external audit activities with stakeholders such as ONRSR, WorkSafe, Internal Audit Service Providers, and ISO certification bodies;
  • Compiling and delivering comprehensive audit reports to stakeholders within agreed-upon timeframes;
  • Ensuring all work is performed and documented in compliance with internal audit methodology and standards;
  • Developing strong working relationships with various stakeholders, promoting a culture of openness, respect, and collaboration;
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of emerging external and internal risks and issues facing the business;
  • Providing guidance and support to V/Line staff and management, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in generalist audit roles, providing compliance, assurance, and managing internal audit programs;
  • A strong understanding of compliance requirements, frameworks, laws, regulations, and Global Internal Audit Standards;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, accounting software, and databases, with the ability to produce detailed and effective audit reports;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights;
  • An estimated salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, based on location and experience;
