We are seeking a skilled Community Development Coordinator to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will coordinate, support and manage local programs to achieve significant growth and quality impacts. They will deliver across two primary modalities for local programming:

  • To lead and manage small local projects where we are the implementing agent;
  • To coordinate and support local partner projects managed by Not-For-Profits and Community-Based Organisations.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the management of the portfolio of local emergency, welfare and development projects directly implemented by us and our partners in Australia;
  • Contribute to organisational planning and strategic direction setting for our local programs;
  • Support, manage and motivate staff and volunteers directly involved in local programs and projects;
  • Assist with program development, assessing opportunities for engagement in local and international programming, designing proposals, and liaising with partners and beneficiaries;
  • Facilitate, manage, coordinate or support project implementation teams to efficiently perform each function of project cycle management – from identification and design, through implementation, monitoring, review and evaluation, learning and reporting;
  • Ensure quality and accountability in local program and project monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring that supported projects comply with requirements and meet minimum financial management and audit requirements.

Requirements:

  • Significant previous experience in a similar role at a local level;
  • Qualified to a degree level, ideally in social sciences, including social work;
  • At least 2 years of experience working with local programs in a community development setting;
  • At least 2 years experience in program development, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Knowledge and understanding of program implementation within the charity sector;
  • Good leadership and people management skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Additional relevant language skills highly regarded;
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and knowledge of Islamic faith values;
  • Report and proposal writing skills;
  • Complex problem-solving and decision-making skills.
