Senior Engineering Specialist Job Description:

The Senior Engineering Specialist plays a key role in providing specialist engineering expertise for system management and projects. They support Airservices' National Technical Monitoring System (NTMS) by investigating, managing, and implementing corrections, enhancements, and upgrades on supported systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and manage system issues, and implement corrections and enhancements to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Prepare and maintain system engineering documentation, policies, and standards to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Develop proposals and estimates for system changes and improvements, and control system configurations to meet business needs.
  • Support field maintenance staff in deploying system changes and resolving complex issues.
  • Participate in projects and lead the creation of project engineering artefacts to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, Information Technology or similar engineering discipline, or certified equivalent international qualification, that provides eligibility for registration as a professional engineer under applicable state or territory legislation.
  • Experience with PLC, SCADA RTU/Telemetry, IT/OT networking systems, and protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, and SNMP.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating legacy systems to ensure seamless system operations.
  • Project Management experience, leading technical projects, and vendor performance management skills would be desirable.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment is beneficial.
  • Good practical understanding of electronic and electrical circuits.
  • Experience in providing system support, including investigation, management, and resolution of complex issues.
  • A good understanding of computer networks and protocols, including RS232/422 interfaces.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write high-quality technical and non-technical documents, reports, and procedures for a range of audiences.
