About the Role

The Australian Public Service Commission is seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team. As a Technical Manager, you will play a key role in leading the configuration management team and exercising sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage workflows, resources, and prepare work plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
  • Motivate and mentor the technical workforce, aligning complementary skills and allocating resources in a manner that delivers results.
  • Lead an integrated team to plan and deliver critical and complex technical activities in the configuration management functional area.
  • Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into technical activities.
  • Apply technical knowledge and experience to identify risks and uncertainties and take these into account in planning, decision-making, and priority setting.
  • Evaluate technical activities to understand critical factors for success and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Translate and apply high-level goals and outcomes, identify issues and uncertainties, and incorporate these into advice, planning, decision-making, and implementation.
  • Work collaboratively, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and influence the work of teams.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".
