About the Role

This is a leadership position within our disaster management program. As Senior Program Officer, you will oversee the development and delivery of complex initiatives that support state-wide planning, preparedness, response, and recovery.

Your work will have a direct impact on building safer, more resilient communities across NSW. You will lead research, provide expert advice, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure programs are evidence-based, strategically aligned, and effectively implemented.

Key responsibilities include preparing high-level reports, driving project milestones, and shaping disaster management outcomes.

About You

We are seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for public impact and a proven ability to deliver government programs that make a difference. Key qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated experience designing and/or coordinating government programs
  • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives
  • Excellent written communication skills, including reports, briefs, and correspondence
  • The ability to conduct and apply research to inform program development
  • Skills in stakeholder engagement and relationship management
  • Confidence navigating competing priorities in a dynamic environment

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Current unrestricted NSW drivers' licence
  • An ability and willingness to travel within NSW and support other operational roles during disasters, emergencies and other events
