Cancer Support Nurse Position Overview

Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our health service as a Cancer Support Registered Nurse. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality cancer care to patients and their families.

You will work closely with local hospitals, palliative care services, and clinic staff to strengthen referral processes and build trust within the community. Your skills and experience will enable you to make a genuine impact in Aboriginal health and cancer care outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and embed cancer screening resources across community programs.
  • Support clients and families in navigating cancer services and palliative care pathways.
  • Coordinate planning with hospitals and Aboriginal Medical Services to ensure culturally safe referrals.
  • Deliver health promotion activities, yarning circles, and community education.
  • Assist in developing quality improvement processes and culturally appropriate learning materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in community health, chronic disease, oncology, or related programs.
  • Current QLD Driver's Licence, First Aid/CPR, Blue Card, and National Police Check.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Cultural awareness working rural and remote and with Aboriginal and Torres Island communities.
