Job Description:

The role of Cancer Support Registered Nurse involves delivering comprehensive cancer care pathways and collaborating with local hospitals and healthcare professionals to ensure culturally safe referrals.

You will have the chance to combine your nursing skills with health education, advocacy, and program development in a supportive environment. You will work closely with communities to strengthen referral processes and build trust.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote and embed cancer screening resources across community programs.
  • Support clients and families in navigating cancer services and palliative care pathways.
  • Coordinate planning with hospitals and Aboriginal Medical Services to ensure culturally safe referrals.
  • Deliver health promotion activities, yarning circles, and community education.
  • Assist in developing quality improvement processes and culturally appropriate learning materials.
Requirements:Essential Qualifications:
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in community health, chronic disease, oncology, or related programs.
  • Current QLD Driver's Licence, First Aid/CPR, Blue Card, and National Police Check.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Cultural awareness working rural and remote and with Aboriginal and Torres Island communities
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in cancer screening, oncology nursing, or palliative care.
  • Previous work in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services or rural health.
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office.
