Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. The successful candidate will provide a high-quality library service for staff and students, working in three libraries serving students from Prep to Year 10.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Teacher Librarians in providing a welcoming and responsive library service to students and staff
  • Perform a range of library tasks, including shelving, processing, stocktaking, preparing display materials, and using circulation systems
  • Answer basic reference and information inquiries, and prepare teaching aids under the direction of the Teacher Librarian
  • Provide technical support to staff in relation to library services and systems
Requirements:
  • Relevant library experience and qualification
  • A strong customer service focus, with the ability to develop positive relationships with students and staff
  • Effective ICT skills, including proficiency with Mac computers and experience with Spydus
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communications skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • A sound working knowledge of library equipment
  • Ability to build effective work relationships as a member of a small team
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
  • A commitment to student care and wellbeing, including a commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • A valid Working With Children Check and be eligible to work in Australia

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
