Job Description

A Senior DB2 Systems Programmer is responsible for providing subject-matter expertise and thought leadership to adopt and implement DB2 software solutions. This role will install, upgrade, and maintain the DB2 software as well as Broadcom DB2 Administration software. You will be assigned to manage Install, Upgrade and maintain Broadcom DB2 Administration and Performance solutions.

This hands-on position requires SME skillsets in DB2 and enabling common interfaces like CICS, DB2Connect, and learning various others. You will build and maintain DB2 infrastructure that is reliable, scalable, and secure. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of systems, platforms, and technology through the application of software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in incident response.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions to fulfill business requirements ensuring measurable reliability, performance, availability, and ease of use.
  • Monitor IT infrastructure and system performance to measure, identify, address, and resolve any potential issues, vulnerabilities, or outages.
  • Implement automated tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention using software scripting/coding disciplines.
  • Implement a secure configuration and measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks, vulnerabilities, and other security threats.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, architects, and other engineers to define IT Infrastructure requirements, devise solutions, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 15 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of the IBM DB2 product.
  • 10 years practical experience working as a DB2 Systems Programmer including problem resolution and performance management experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing DB2 Performance and DB2 problem resolution in a high availability environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with z/OSMF.
  • Experience with Data Propagation methodologies.
  • Experience with DB2 internal and RACF Security.
  • Possess a strong willingness to learn emerging mainframe technologies.
  • Experience in managing on call for DB2 environments.
Education Requirements

A senior consultant will have a minimum of 15 – 20 years of experience on the mainframe platform. The minimum education is a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 15 years of mainframe experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree requirement.
