
Culturally Responsive Mental Health Professional

This role involves contributing to culturally safe and supportive mental health care for Aboriginal people, fostering a strong sense of community and promoting social and emotional wellbeing.
Working closely with clinical teams ensures services honour Aboriginal culture, address the impacts of trauma and colonisation, and provide care that is respectful of Aboriginal heritage.
The Aboriginal Mental Health Team collaborates with mental health clinicians to deliver cultural advice and guidance, ensuring care is tailored to meet the unique needs of Aboriginal consumers.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with clinical teams to honour Aboriginal culture and address the effects of trauma and colonisation.
- Support culturally informed care planning and assessments, prioritising the well-being of Aboriginal consumers.
- Advocate for Aboriginal consumers and facilitate connections to family, community, and culture in hospital and community settings.
- Contribute to reviews and meetings, sharing insights to ensure Aboriginal voices are heard and valued.
- Tertiary qualifications in Health, Counselling, Social Work, Community Welfare, or relevant work experience are essential.
- Aboriginal descent and genuine occupational qualification recognition are required.
- A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and the social and emotional challenges faced by Aboriginal people is necessary.
- A current, unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence is also required.
