Lead Cooks Wanted

We are seeking experienced Lead Cooks to join our team at The Western Hotel in Ballarat VIC.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of cooks to achieve exceptional food quality and presentation. This includes overseeing the preparation and cooking of all dishes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring that all food safety and hygiene standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals to order during service, private parties, and functions
  • Oversee the preparation, season, and cooking of all dishes in our restaurant
  • Able to work efficiently with pans, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • Check the quality of raw materials and weigh ingredients accurately
  • Train and mentor junior staff members
  • Design, implement, and cost new menus, both food and labor
  • Manage stock control and monitor wastage
  • Develop and manage staff rosters
  • Ensure safe work practices with a focus on workplace health and safety
  • Follow hygienic food handling practices
Requirements:

To be successful as a Lead Cook, you will require:

  • A Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
  • At least 2-3 years experience in commercial kitchens post qualification
