About the Role

The Senior AOD Clinician will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic interventions that support individuals in reaching their goals. These interventions include individual case management and counselling, and group therapy and psychoeducation.

The role will support the Team Leader Clinical in implementing programs based on clinical best practice within a Therapeutic Community (TC). The Senior AOD Clinician will work collegially with all staff to ensure that residents receive the full benefits of the program and that most residents can complete the full program and graduate.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in addictive behaviours/AOD, health, welfare, behavioural or social sciences, and a minimum of 3 years' experience within the AOD sector. Compliance with the AOD Workforce Minimum Qualification Strategy or willingness to undertake minimum required study within the first 12 months of employment is required.

About You
  • Degree level tertiary qualifications in addictive behaviours, counselling, social work or similar, and a minimum of 3 years' experience working in the AOD sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with people who experience issues relating to their use of alcohol and/or other drugs, and co-occurring mental health conditions. A strong theoretical and practical understanding of relapse prevention.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an AOD residential rehabilitation setting.
  • Maintains hope and role models a positive outlook even during challenging times.
  • The ability to establish respectful professional relationships that have clear boundaries with consumers, staff, and partner organisations.
