Patent Attorney Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered patent attorney to join our team in Melbourne.

As a patent attorney, you will work with a wide range of clients to protect cutting-edge technologies. Under the guidance of experienced professionals with a wide range of subject matter expertise, you will have the opportunity to develop intellectual property protection strategies tailored to our clients' commercial objectives.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications in Australia and internationally
  • Preparing high-quality written and verbal intellectual property advice in a timely manner
  • Managing intellectual property portfolios for local and international clients
  • Developing and executing intellectual property strategies tailored to client needs
  • Preparing and delivering intellectual property related articles and presentations internally and externally
  • Participating in networking events, seminars, and business development activities
About You

You are a registered Australian or New Zealand patent attorney who is degree qualified (or higher) in electrical or electronics engineering, computer systems engineering, mechatronics engineering, information and communications technology (ICT), physics, quantum computing, software engineering, or a related technical field.

You will also possess the following:

  • 1-3 years post-registration experience as a patent attorney
  • Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the above technical fields
  • Experience managing intellectual property portfolios and developing intellectual property strategies for Australian and international applicants
  • A client-focused approach and ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional technical knowledge
  • An eye for detail, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills and database researching skills
  • Highly organised and responsible with experience prioritising and working to deadlines
  • A positive attitude with a collaborative and innovative mindset
