About the Role

The Senior Solicitor position in the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office is a critical role that requires a high level of expertise in child protection litigation. The successful candidate will provide state-wide legal advice, support, and representation in child protection litigation matters in various courts, including the Children's Court of Victoria, the Supreme Court, and related jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues and provide high-level briefings and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high-quality client-focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of counsel and contracted solicitors on the State Government Legal Panel in meeting the needs of the department in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child protection law and litigation, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will also be required to complete pre-employment screening, including a national police check and misconduct screening.
