About the Role

The Senior Solicitor role in the State Government of Victoria, Australia, is responsible for providing state-wide legal advice, support, and representation in child protection litigation matters in various courts, including the Children's Court of Victoria, the Supreme Court, and related jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues and provide high-level briefings and correspondence.
• Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high-quality client-focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
• Monitor and report on the performance of counsel and contracted solicitors on the State Government Legal Panel in meeting the needs of the department in a cost-effective manner.

Requirements

• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit or visa.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage complex cases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
