The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Solicitor to join the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office (Statewide CPLO).

The successful candidate will provide state-wide legal advice, support, and representation in child protection litigation matters in various courts, including the Children's Court of Victoria, the Supreme Court, and related jurisdictions. The Senior Solicitor will appear, in person, on behalf of the Secretary in the Children's Court of Victoria.

The role involves managing complex cases, providing high-level advice to child protection practitioners, and undertaking the Duty Allocation Lawyer Service, where relevant, at the Children's Courts. The Senior Solicitor will also support less experienced staff and deliver training.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Providing authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues and providing high-level briefings and correspondence.
• Collaborating with departmental colleagues to deliver high-quality client-focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
• Monitoring and reporting on the performance of counsel and contracted solicitors on the State Government Legal Panel in meeting the needs of the department in a cost-effective manner.
