About the Role

The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Solicitor to join our team in the Statewide Child Protection Litigation Office (Statewide CPLO). As a Senior Solicitor, you will play a critical role in providing state-wide legal advice, support, and representation in child protection litigation matters in various courts, including the Children's Court of Victoria, the Supreme Court, and related jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide authoritative advice on complex legal and policy issues and provide high-level briefings and correspondence.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to deliver high-quality client-focused legal services in relation to complex and sensitive matters.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of counsel and contracted solicitors on the State Government Legal Panel in meeting the needs of the department in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements
  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • Must have a strong understanding of child protection laws and policies.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
