About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our team at Canva. As a key member of our Generative AI Platform Group, you will be responsible for delivering cutting-edge AI solutions that empower our users to create amazing designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and develop AI-based solutions to automate the evaluation of our core design and conversational assistant products
  • Collaborate with platform and product teams to build AI-powered solutions for labelling and preprocessing large volumes of unstructured data
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and advocate for engineering needs
  • Model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, including learning and maximizing the use of Canva's engineering landscape and technical systems
  • Contribute to defining, improving, and codifying best practices
  • Participate in design and code reviews
Requirements
  • 5+ years of industry experience in machine learning/software engineering with a Product/SaaS company, visual AI experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end machine learning pipelines and components
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in deep learning and AI
  • Proficient in Python coding, with experience in building and deploying machine learning models
  • Solid understanding of Computer Science/Engineering fundamentals and first principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Science or Mathematics
  • Familiarity with models commonly used for evaluation or LLM as a judge is a bonus
